January meeting - time to learn and to declutter!

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope you had a good holiday.  Our next guild meeting is January 3rd, which makes for a great way to start the new year.

At our January meeting a few members will share their knitting skills with us. We'll have short sessions on different ways of casting on, the Kitchener stitch, seaming and needle felting.

Also, January is a great time to declutter and thin out your stash.  We've had a request from a women's shelter in Brantford asking for any spare knitting supplies.  So, if you have any yarn, wool, needles or other supplies that you'd like to donate to the shelter please bring them to our January meeting and we'll send them off to be used at the shelter.  Apparently, the shelter offered a knitting class to their residents and it was a huge success (naturally).  So now the women are looking for more supplies to keep their hands busy.

Thanks everyone, and see you January 3rd!

  2. I didn't see this in time to attend the meeting, can you tell us the name of the shelter? I live in Brantford and would love to donate some of my extra knitting supplies to a cause close to home. thanks!

  3. Hi Patti, I think for safety reasons they didn't reveal the name of the shelter, but I'm happy to ask. I'll get in touch as soon as I hear back.

    Thanks!

  4. Hi, I attended my first meeting last night and came home feeling so inspired. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better and to developing my knitting skills.
I was wondering if anyone had information on knitting newborn baby hats for McMaster Hospital?
    Thanks, Lee
