Twined Mittens Retreat

KNITTER ALERT,

Twined Mitten Retreat
We have a plan for a Fall Retreat with Mairi McKissock
(Ravelry name Mairi) to learn Twined Knitting and to make
a pair of Scandinavian mittens.
On Ravelry you can see completed mittens under
Mairi's name to get ideas of yarns, colour ways and
finished projects.
At this retreat we will make a mini version of the full size
to learn techniques. Post retreat, we will continue to
work on our mitten project in a similar fashion to the
Kate Davies Tea Cozy project (meeting regularly to complete
project until the end of December).  Cast on party date for
full size mitten to be one to two week following the retreat;
Mairi will continue to provide support as needed.

What is Twined Knitting?
"It is a traditional Scandinavian knitting technique where
one knits with two ends of the yarn, both strands are held
in the right hand and twisted around each other in the same
direction between every stitch.  This twisting gives a
particularly firm yet flexible character".
("Two-End Knitting" by Anne-Maj Ling, 2004).
All types of clothing have been knitted using this technique.

If You are interested in being part of this Retreat
We require minimum 6 - 10 paid people (cash only) at
the September 4th Guild meeting.  Non Guild members
are welcome accompanied by a Guild member.
We must ask that you have had previous experience of
knitting mittens (casting on and working in the round),
so that we can properly utilize the instructor's time.
The pricing breakdown is as follows:
6 hours of instruction @ $66.00 per person
(includes -pattern and technique info and ongoing
email help, if needed)
+ $6.00 instructor travel allowance
+ $5.00 lunch/person (homemade soup, bread and cheese)
tea, coffee, snack
Total $77.00/person
The location would be Cindy Spong's home in Ancaster.
Depending on weather we could be indoors or outdoors.
Saturday September 22nd, 2018
with a 9:30 to 4 o'clock, (approx.) time frame
(more definite times will be announced).

This is a Fun Retreat which was suggested by two of our Members.
