October Meeting

Come and join us for our second meeting of this season on
Tuesday October 2nd, 2018 at our usual location at 7pm. (see below) 
We have invited the local Hamilton store, Hand Knit Yarn
to come and show us their wares (so there will be chance to
add to your "stash" - cash or credit accepted) Smile, wink.
You can renew your Guild membership,
 if you haven't already done so.
There will be a chance at the 50/50 door prize.

June 5th Meeting

We had an excellent meeting last month with our speaker,
Donna Hancock from Wellington Fibres.
We discovered lots of information about angora goats
and also had a chance to buy some of the yarn :)

This month will be the last of our season until
September. It will be Our General Meeting and
the election of Officers.  Also a survey will be
taken to determine topics for the Guild Meetings
for next year. (Get your thinking caps on, Ladies)
As is usual we will have a Silent Auction.
So-o-o ladies, look through all your stash and see
what yarn, knitting books, yarn accessories etc.,
that you can easily part with and bring all along to
the meeting.  Also please bring some cash (of course)
because your never know, there might be a
special ball or two or three ........
of yarn or something that you could use
for your next project.

Tuesday May 1st Meeting

This month we are pleased to welcome Donna Hancock
as our guest speaker.
Donna is the owner of a small business which
produces spun mohair, from her angora goats
at her farm in Elora, Ont.

Hi Everyone:

I dropped off both the Twiddle Muffs and Linus Blankets today.  Both organizations were very appreciative!

The Alzheimers Society was grateful especially for the twiddle muffs that were done in gender neutral colours.  She said often they don't have enough for men.  She loved the zippers!

Our Linus Blanket contact had this to say:

"I now have the 50 blankets that Camp Erin had requested!  Thanks to all your ladies for your AWESOME support for Project Linus!!!"  She went on to say that the ATBKG has donated 92 blankets since we first started a few years ago!

I think it would be great if this could be shared on our website, and/or at our next meeting, so that everyone hears this wonderful news!

The Bob Kemp Hospice runs a bereavement camp every June in Bracebridge.  It is called Camp Erin and 50 children, aged 6-17 attend.  They have all suffered the loss of either a parent, sibling, grandparent, or someone else close to them.  For more information please visit:  https://kemphospice.org/camp-erin
Project Linus has been asked to supply the children with a cuddly blanket as something they could be comforted by.  Because of our Guild's current relationship with Project Linus, we have been asked to be involved in this request.  Your ongoing support of Project Linus is appreciated.  Please continue to give your Project Linus blankets to 
Jo Ann at our regular meetings.  Your donated blankets will be shared not only with Women's shelters, but also with the children of Camp Erin.  Thank you!!

Vintage Show and Tell

Hope that you are all coming along to the Guild Meeting on Tuesday the 3rd of April

The programme for the meeting is called "Vintage Show and Tell" which means that we would like you to bring along a project that you completed early on in your knitting journey.
Even if you do not have the actual item, if you could bring along a photo or the pattern, or even the description of it.
It will be fun to see and hear about your early knitting adventures.

You'll enjoy our Skills Night, with a variety of
new things to learn (or re-remember).

Mirdza A. will show us how to do European
(Continental) Knitting,
just regular yarn and needles needed.

Magic Loop Knitting will be

You'll need a circular needle and yarn for this skill.

Jane K. is going to let us into the secrets of the
I-cord Cast On, and in what circumstances it is best used.
Just yarn and needles.

It sounds like there will be lots to learn.

February Meeting

Our meeting for this month will be an interesting one.

"An Introduction to Brioche"

I'm sure you'll find it fun to learn.
Bring a set of double pointed needles and two
different colours of wool to be able to make a sample.
Here is an example of Brioche work in this picture.

Hello Everyknitter,
Alex has let me know that if you wish to participate in
the Knitted Knockers Charity knitting on Tuesday
(and haven't made them before).  You can bring
1 ball Cascade Ultra Puma or Ultralite Puma
in any colour you think would be suitable,
and set of size 4mm double pointed needles(4)
or circular 4mm (if you like magic loop).

First Meeting of the New Year

A reminder of our Meeting on Tuesday, January 2nd at 7pm
at the Mennonite Church Hall  (usual time, usual place).
By the time it comes along you'll be wanting to do some
non thinking knitting with no pressure deadlines
(Christmas presents etc).
We will be doing some Charity Knitting that evening,
for Linus blankets and Knitted Knockers

Christmas Guild Meeting

Ladies,
Come along and celebrate Christmas.  We are having a Guild Meeting "with bells on"

Bring some finger food appetizers or desserts (I'm bringing dessert - yum).  Don't forget serving utensils and forks and spoons if necessary.  We already have the plates, napkins and cups for hot beverages.  And of course bring your knitting.
It should be a fun night.

Happy Fall

Hello Knitters,
A reminder of our Meeting on Tuesday 3rd October at 7pm at the Mennonite Church Hall on Lower Horning Road, Hamilton.  This Tuesday night at 7pm, Jane Cudmore will show us all about her antique sock machine which she will bring. We can all get a good look at it, and find out how it works, with her guidance. Thank you Jane, for sharing your knowledge.

Summer's Here

Passing along some summer knitting tidbits:

• Knitting in the Park:  Knitting in the Park takes place at the Dundas Driving Park in Dundas, every Tuesday evening at 6:30pm in the Summer. Enter the park to the right and drive about 3/4 of the way around the oval.  Look for the group near the stairs on the right.  Bring your lawn chair and of course your knitting!
• The Linus Project coordinator sends a Big Thank You to our Guild for donating 46 blankets since we started these donations!!!!  She is most grateful for everyone's generosity of time, skill and heart and soul.  Thanks so much !!!!

• Our new executive has been elected for the 2017-2018 year.  Welcome to Lori, (our new Treasurer), and Edith (our new Webmaster). Thank you to Alex for her work as our Treasurer and for becoming our new Programme Chair.  A warm thank you to Nancy (past Secretary),   Jo Ann (past Webmaster) and Michele (past Programming Chair) for their support and service to the Guild.   We currently are looking to fill our Secretary position!
