Our June meeting is an important one, as this is the night we decide on our executive for the next year. If you'd like to be on the executive, or if you can help with planning or events, it would be greatly appreciated. And if you have any ideas for events or speakers for next season, please come to the meeting and share. We're always open to new ideas.
As always, the meeting begins at 7pm at the Marlatt Family Centre. Don't forget to bring your knitting projects for show-and-tell!

Our next evening of knitting at the Dundas Library is Wednesday, April 17, starting at 6:30pm. Knitting at the library is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
This is also the time of year for frolicking knitters. The Toronto guild, known as the Downtown Knit Collective, is holding its annual Knitter's Frolic on April 27-28 at the Japanese Cultural Centre in Toronto. The Frolic includes workshops and a marketplace.
The Creativ Festival is taking place that same weekend (April 26-27) at the International Centre on Airport Rd in Mississauga. This is a rather extensive show with crafters of almost every genre represented. Knitting, beading, sewing, you name it. It's like a crafter's dream come true.
And just a reminder that our next meeting is on Tuesday, May 7 at 7pm. The very talented Kate Atherley will be there to give a session on Fair Isle and Intarsia. I'll be sorry to miss that one. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TWO DIFFERENT COLOURS OF SCRAP YARN AND NEEDLES SUITABLE FOR THAT YARN.
Happy Spring everyone! It's coming, I promise!

We'll have show-and-tell and other bits of business at the meeting, including the upcoming workshop at St. John's Anglican Church Parish Hall in Ancaster on June 1st. REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE APRIL GUILD MEETING. There are only 28 spaces at the workshop so if you want to attend, best to register early. The cost is $45 for Guild members. The workshop will include a session about measurements for garments, as well as a little social knitting time.
Here are some pics from last month's meeting, including a completed beret from new Guild member Shelley. Well done!

Here's what you need to bring:
- 4.5mm needles unless you are a really loose knitter, in which case then 4mm would be better
- $15 for the kit, which will include enough yarn for a small project
Please try to be there early if possible so the class can start right away.
Happy knitting everyone!

It's cold out. There's a lot of snow on the ground. This is prime knitting season. So if you're looking for another social place to knit with a group, all knitters/crocheters are welcome to purl their cares away at the Dundas Library. Our knitting group meets there every third Wednesday of the month, so this month the date is set for the evening February 20th.
Hope you can make it!

Also, Vicki will speak to her experience with bobbles. She will cover the technique used in her sweater, and also the nobs we learned last year in Kate’s lace class (The Purple Purl/Distillery Guild day trip). To practice a few bobbles: Please bring scrap yarn and any set of needles that suit the yarn.
And Linda will review Moebius and demonstrate. She completed a project this past autumn. Please bring some bulky or chunky yarn (24” at least) and large and long circular needles, such as size 10. Linda also recommends watching a Cat Bordhi instructional video to get an idea of how the technique is done. THIS IS COMPLEX, I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE TO WATCH THE VIDEO IN ADVANCE OF THE MEETING.
See you there!

Our next meeting is January 8th at 7pm. For this meeting Fran will be showing us how to wind a centre-pull bsll of yarn, and how to cast on for toe-up socks (yay!). So to prepare for Fran's lesson here is your homework and a list of what you need to bring:
1. Familiarize yourself with the long tail cast on. If you're not familiar yet, this video should help.
2. Bring 3 double-pointed needles
3. Bring a small ball of yarn
4. Bring an empty paper towel tube
All set? Great! We'll also be discussing the agenda for future meetings, as well as our usual show-and-tell so don't forget to bring your latest project. Or, if, like me, you've neglected your knitting over the holidays, feel free to bring in any knitting gifts you received and love.
And a belated congratulations to the Guild members who raised $180 for Hamilton Food Share. Well done! Hamilton Food Share procures food and distributes it to the Good Shepherd Centres, Mission Services of Hamilton, Neighbour to Neighbour, St. Matthew’s House, Wesley Urban Ministries, Living Rock Ministry, Welcome Inn, The Salvation Army and Stoney Creek Food Bank. They also assist two breakfast feeding programs, various women’s shelters, men’s hostels, and youth centres. In 2011, 2.3 million pounds of food was raised and distributed.
See you on January 8th, and don't forget to bring your supplies!
